{"id":30,"date":"2007-09-19T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-19T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/humanrightsresearch.wordpress.com\/2007\/09\/19\/homer-issues-and-where-else-to-search\/"},"modified":"2007-09-19T14:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-19T14:00:00","slug":"homer-issues-and-where-else-to-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/humanrights\/2007\/09\/19\/homer-issues-and-where-else-to-search\/","title":{"rendered":"HOMER Issues and Where Else to Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As many of you have noticed, UConn&#8217;s online library catalog, HOMER, has been having a number of\u00a0issues lately.\u00a0 We&#8217;re currently working to solve those problems.\u00a0 One of the issues we&#8217;ve been having is that HOMER is not accurately reflecting the latest library holdings, and new additions to the library&#8217;s collections are not showing up in the catalog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Until we get HOMER back up and running 100%, there are a couple of other places that you can search for library holdings at UConn.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/lib.uconn.edu\/online\/databases\/ERM\/referer.php?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fnewfirstsearch.oclc.org%2Fdone%3Dreferer%3Bdbname%3DWorldCat%3Bautho%3D100122319%3BFSIP&amp;DatabaseName=WorldCat&amp;ResourceID=947\"><strong>WorldCat<\/strong> <\/a>is probably the best place to search, as it is a comprehensive listing of books, serials, films, and other items held in libraries around the world.\u00a0 WorldCat&#8217;s listings are up to date, so if a recently acquired title doesn&#8217;t show up in HOMER, it will come up in WorldCat.\u00a0 Once you&#8217;ve found an item in World Cat, if UConn doesn&#8217;t have it, you can request it via Inter Library Loan (ILL).<\/p>\n<p>Another place to looks is <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/lib.uconn.edu\/online\/databases\/ERM\/referer.php?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.iconn.org%2Fdefault.asp%3Flid%3DUCW%26mode%3Dg&amp;DatabaseName=reQuest&amp;ResourceID=930\">ReQuest<\/a><\/strong>, a catalog of most public and publicly-funded academic libraries in Connecticut.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both WorldCat and ReQuest can be found on the library&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/rdl.lib.uconn.edu\/byTitle.php\">Research Database Locator<\/a>, as well as on the list of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.uconn.edu\/online\/shortcuts.html\">Most Used Databases <\/a>linked on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.uconn.edu\/\">main library page<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, HOMER will be back up and running soon, but in the mean time, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/lib.uconn.edu\/online\/databases\/ERM\/referer.php?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fnewfirstsearch.oclc.org%2Fdone%3Dreferer%3Bdbname%3DWorldCat%3Bautho%3D100122319%3BFSIP&amp;DatabaseName=WorldCat&amp;ResourceID=947\"><strong>WorldCat<\/strong><\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/lib.uconn.edu\/online\/databases\/ERM\/referer.php?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.iconn.org%2Fdefault.asp%3Flid%3DUCW%26mode%3Dg&amp;DatabaseName=reQuest&amp;ResourceID=930\"><strong>ReQuest<\/strong><\/a> are the best places to look.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As many of you have noticed, UConn&#8217;s online library catalog, HOMER, has been having a number of\u00a0issues lately.\u00a0 We&#8217;re currently working to solve those problems.\u00a0 One of the issues we&#8217;ve been having is that HOMER is not accurately reflecting the &hellip;
