Dodd Research Center and the Human Rights Institute at the University of Connecticut are hosting a symposium, \u201cHuman Rights Archives and Documentation:\u00a0 Transforming Ideas into Practice\u201d on March 3-4, 2008.<\/span><\/font><\/h2>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<div class=\"snap_preview\"><font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial\">The Center for Research Libraries Global Resources Network and the Center for Human Rights Documentation at Columbia University Libraries are co-sponsoring the event.\u00a0 <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial\"><\/span><\/font><font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial\">This one and a half day symposium will bring together archivists, librarians, and human rights scholars together to address specific needs and unique issues in human rights documentation and to create strategies for the future.\u00a0 The keynote address for the symposium will be the\u00a0<strong>Sackler Distinguished Lecture in Human Rights<\/strong> with the\u00a0<strong>Honorable Patricia Wald,<\/strong> who served on the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.\u00a0 The Sackler Lecture, on <strong>March 3, at 4 PM in\u00a0Konover Auditorium<\/strong> at the\u00a0Dodd Research Center,\u00a0is free and open to the public.\u00a0 <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial\">The second day of the program will consist of working group sessions with human rights archivists and librarians\u00a0to share information and address issues specific to human rights documentation.\u00a0 More information is available on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.uconn.edu\/online\/research\/speclib\/ASC\/events\/human_rights_symposium.htm\">our website.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/font><font size=\"2\" face=\"Arial\"><span style=\"font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial\">\u00a0<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Thomas J.
