{"id":2019,"date":"2022-02-15T11:07:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T15:07:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/news\/?p=2019"},"modified":"2022-02-15T12:32:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-15T16:32:22","slug":"library-to-participate-in-national-study-on-video-in-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/news\/library-to-participate-in-national-study-on-video-in-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Library to Participate in National Study on Video in Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/news\/files\/streming-video-1024x576.jpg)\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To meet the growing demand for streaming video in higher education, the UConn Library is participating in a <a href=\"https:\/\/sr.ithaka.org\/blog\/working-with-libraries-to-navigate-the-streaming-media-environment\/\">nationwide research study<\/a> on faculty use of video resources in teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/news\/files\/Ithakalogo.jpg\" alt=\"Ithaka S+R logo\" class=\"wp-image-2020\" width=\"185\" height=\"142\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Coordinated by Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit research and consulting service, the study covers 24 colleges and universities. Participants include several of the nation\u2019s top universities, including Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Michigan. Study personnel will interview up to 360 faculty members (10-15 per institution) who teach using videos. Our own UConn-based study will span the disciplines from STEM to gender and cultural studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By participating in this study, the Library will gain valuable insights into these and other issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>How our faculty find and select video content to meet learning goals.<\/li><li>How streaming video has influenced pedagogy and shifted expectations.<\/li><li>How our faculty\u2019s activities and perspectives reflect or diverge from national trends.<\/li><li>How the Library can better position its services to meet these evolving needs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Library already provides access to tens of thousands of streaming videos.
