{"id":210,"date":"2013-08-30T14:55:09","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T14:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/?p=210"},"modified":"2013-08-30T14:55:09","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T14:55:09","slug":"buttons-buttons-buttons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/2013\/08\/30\/buttons-buttons-buttons\/","title":{"rendered":"Buttons, Buttons, Buttons!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You probably saw earlier this week and idea that Joel put into motion.<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by Char Booth\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/infomational.wordpress.com\/2011\/06\/01\/project-curve-part-one-maker-breaks\">button making initiative <\/a>at Claremont, he thought it would be fun to have a\u00a0\u201cmake your own button\u201d table in the library for the first week of classes. The Public Outreach Team had just enough funds at the end of last year to purchase the maker for the Library.<\/p>\n<p>The free button making was run Tuesday, Wednesday &amp; Thursday from 12-3 in the main entrance to Babbidge. \u00a0Volunteer staff and students manned the table, allowing for folks to make buttons from pre-made designs (courtesy of Joelle) or they could design their own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-211\" alt=\"homer button\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button-225x300.jpg\" width=\"158\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/files\/2013\/08\/homer-button.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 158px) 100vw, 158px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And in typical UCL fashion, statistics were taken, and a total of 196 buttons were made.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presets: 81<\/li>\n<li>MLK theme (thanks for the idea, Jane!): 26<\/li>\n<li>Custom: 89<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So now that Joel and Joelle have been dubbed by the Public Outreach Team as our resident button makers, you are welcome to stop and ask them how it went. \u00a0If you are interested in using the button maker, let Jean know.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You probably saw earlier this week and idea that Joel put into motion.
