Today I sent a memo to my colleagues in Dean\u2019s Council outlining our goals and the plans. Patrick has also launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/?email_id=89&amp;user_id=1&amp;urlpassed=aHR0cDovL2xpYi51Y29ubi5lZHUvZmluZC9jb2xsZWN0aW9ucy91Y29ubi1saWJyYXJpZXMtY29sbGVjdGlvbnMtcmV2aWV3Lw%3D%3D&amp;controller=stats&amp;action=analyse&amp;wysija-page=1&amp;wysijap=subscriptions\">series of webpages<\/a>\u00a0that provide greater detail and will be the source for ongoing updates to our community as we progress.<\/p>\n<p>I welcome you to review the webpages and read the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/staffnews\/2016\/01\/28\/712\/\">memo<\/a> since they lay out not only our plan but our goals which includes a data-informed and transparent process. \u00a0I have spoken with the Provost and he is pleased with our commitment to reviewing our resources and as I state in my letter, I am encouraged by recent conversations that have shown his deep commitment to providing the resources for maintaining the essential collections identified. I anticipate that we will also create a better infrastructure to allow us to review our collections regularly.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick has put together a calendar of what will happen over the next few months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January \u2013 June &#8211;\u00a0Analysis of monographic resources.<\/li>\n<li>January \u2013 February &#8211;\u00a0Internal review of subscribed resources.<\/li>\n<li>February &#8211;\u00a0Consult with the Office of the Provost regarding outcomes of the internal review.<\/li>\n<li>February \u2013 March &#8211;\u00a0External review of subscribed resources. This will entail us sharing the more targeted list with faculty and graduate students for input. Patrick and Joelle are working on an easy to use feedback mechanism.<\/li>\n<li>March \u2013 April &#8211;\u00a0Analysis of input received during the external review and further consultation with the UConn community.<\/li>\n<li>May &#8211;\u00a0Identify and share plans for how expenditures for subscribed resources could be reduced.<\/li>\n<li>Summer \u2013 Fall &#8211;\u00a0Establish FY2017 collections allocations and then implement any necessary reductions in collections expenditures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As we forge ahead with the review, I want to take a moment to thank so many of you who have put countless hours into this.
