{"id":195,"date":"2005-10-03T09:54:58","date_gmt":"2005-10-03T14:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uconnstamfordlibrary.wordpress.com\/2005\/10\/03\/sacker-lecture-on-human-rights-october-6th\/"},"modified":"2005-10-03T09:54:58","modified_gmt":"2005-10-03T14:54:58","slug":"sacker-lecture-on-human-rights-october-6th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.lib.uconn.edu\/stamford\/2005\/10\/03\/sacker-lecture-on-human-rights-october-6th\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacker Lecture on Human Rights, October 6th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next Sacker Lecture on human rights will be held this <strong>Thursday, October 6th, at 7:30 in the General Re Auditorium at the UConn Stamford Campus. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guest Speaker: Dr. Michael Marrus,  is the Chancellor Rose and Ray Wolfe Professor of Holocaust Studies at the University of Toronto and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Historical Society.<\/p>\n<p>He has been a Guggenheim Fellow; a visiting professor at UCLA and the University of Cape Town, and a visiting fellow of St. Antony&#8217;s College, Oxford and the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>He authored The Holocaust in History, Vichy France and the Jews and co-authored The Unwanted:  European Refugees in the Twentieth Century, The Nuremberg War Crimes Trial and Mr. Sam:  A Biography of Samuel Bronfman.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Marrus was a member of the International Catholic-Jewish Historical Commission, examining the role of the Vatican during the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p>This lecture is free and open to the community.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The next Sacker Lecture on human rights will be held this Thursday, October 6th, at 7:30 in the General Re Auditorium at the UConn Stamford Campus.
