Unveiling of the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame Feb. 1st.

The unveiling of the plaques for the first inductees of the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Beginning at 12:00 noon, there will be press conference in the Gen Re Auditorium, with NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Steve Young (Greenwich High School) speaking via teleconference with the local press regarding his selection into the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame. He will be participating in the press conference as he prepares to broadcast the Super Bowl.

There are two inductees who will be present at the formal ceremony to unveil the plaques honoring nine honorees, which will begin soon after the press conference is completed.

The Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame will be located in the hallway adjacent to the Admissions Office and as you walk toward the Gen Re Auditorum. UConn Stamford and the Fairfield County Sports Commission agreed in October 2005 to work jointly to celebrate the achievements of Fairfield County athletes with the placement of the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame at the UConn Stamford Campus.

Historical Hartford Courant available thru iConn portal

The CT Digital Library is excited to announce that the Historical Hartford Courant is now available through the iCONN portal.

The Historical Hartford Courant database will include full-page coverage from issue 1, volume 1 of the newspaper starting in 1764 with coverage to December 31, 1922. This searchable digital archive of more than 280,000 pages of important historical content will offer article-level search results, article zoning and edited metadata, including headlines, bylines and first paragraphs.

All academic libraries, all public libraries and branches, historical society libraries, and all schools will have statewide access, as well as any Connecticut government department. There will be remote access for anyone with a public library card.
