Daugherty mural exhibit

We now have an exhibit case and poster to go with the James Daugherty WPA mural, School Activities. The exhibit contains before and after photos of the mural restoration, a book entitled Heroic America: James Daugherty’s mural drawings from the 1930’s, and children’s books. Daugherty was also an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, and several of his books were found in the Dodd Center’s children’s literature collection. Come in and check it out!

CASH_B&W Printing Option Operation

I’m happy to report that the option to print to CASH_B&W from the JRL SuperHomers is working again.

We had printing difficulties when “CASH_B&W” was chosen and an alternative “cash printer” option was created in our printer folders. So now you have two choices to print your documents, if your paying by CASH.

STEPS:
Click on File
Click on Print
Select (drop down arrow) to select either CARD_B&W or CASH_B&W

CARD_B&W documents can be retreived from the Reference Desk

CASH_B&W documents can be retreived from the Circulation Desk

SFX Citation Linker

Ever need to track down a citation or find out if an article is available online?

The SFX Citation Linker can help! It’s online at http://sfx5.exlibrisgroup.com:3210/uconn/cgi/core/citation-linker.cgi — from there, you can enter as much information as you have about a citation (including at least journal name / ISSN), click the button, and see if the University of Connecticut Libraries have online access to the journal. Very handy!

Even handier now that it’s linked in several places on the University of Connecticut Libraries Web site.
Added it to the following pages:

– Online Resource (http://www.lib.uconn.edu/online“>http://www.lib.uconn.edu/online)
– site index (under Citation Linker, SFX, and UConn Links) (http://www.lib.uconn.edu/online/siteindex.html)

One Card Machine’s Not Working

Attention Student,

The Library’s and the Computer Lab’s (Rm. 3.05) One-Card Printing Stations are not working today. The problem has been reported and is being checked on.

You can come to the Jeremy Richard Library to print out your documents by selecting the “CASH PRINTER” printing option. You can either pay by CASH (0.15 cents) or still use your One Card (0.10 cents), just retrieve your documents at the circulation desk and give us your One Card.

Another alternative is visiting the Stamford Public Library (near Starbucks, corner of bedford & Atlantic) to print out your papers (free printing at Ferguson Library).

If you need to log in to the UConn library databases from the public library, don’t forget to log in using the VPN: http:vpn.uconn.edu

The Ferguson Library, Stamford Public Library have many Internet stations accessible on the second and third floor. Ask the reference librarians on the second floor for assistance.

We apologize for the inconveniance.
