There’s a new look to the Libraries Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan Page! Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan (DD/ILL) is a free service that provides the University of Connecticut research community access to materials not located in their home campus library.

The hope is that the new look will make the various inter-library options clearer, help users identify the best online path to follow, and also that it will familiarize users with the BLC Virtual Catalog service.

The reQuest catalog will be going down on Wednesday, February 2 at 9 p.m. and will be back up no later than Monday, February 7, 8:00 AM, in order to complete migration to a new version that will incorporate all iCONN licensed databases.

Dear Faculty and Students,

You will notice periodically, as you login to the library databases a very brief Web Survey pops up prior to your database access selection. For the next six months, the web survey will run twice each month.

“This survey is being conducted during a two-hour time period by the University of Connecticut to assess the usage of the Library’s electronic services. All responses are anonymous. The data is critical for obtaining continued funding. After completing the survey, you will be connected to the service you selected.”

The HOMER server is back up and running. However, there may be unplanned outages or service interruptions throughout the day.

HOMER, the Library catalog is currently down. The problem is being looked into. At this time, we don’t know when HOMER will be back up.

Alternative catalogs that you can use are REQUEST (library catalogs of Connecticut public and state-supported college and university libraries)and WorldCat.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is here!

The University has installed a SSL VPN server to provide secure communications from sites outside of the university network (dial-up ISP, broadband ISP). VPN will provide access to services that may not be accessible from the outside, such as Outlook, Windows file sharing and Library resources. This new VPN which will soon supplement and eventually replace proxy for off campus access to library products as well as other campus functions. Try it out.
