H1N1 (Swine Flu) Resources

Many resources are available to keep abreast of the H1N1 virus. The JRL library is compiling these bookmarks/resources on their JRL Del.iciou.us account. Add the RSS feed to your reader.

On the CDC website, you can register for updates via email or subscribe to RSS feeds to stay abreast of emerging information.

Temporary Reduction of Library Electronic Services-May 16th

Temporary Redection of Library Electronic Services -Saturday, May 16, 2009, 5AM-11AM.
Because of scheduled system maintenance, many of the Libraries’ services and systems will not be available the morning of Saturday May 16, 2009, between 5:00AM and 11:00AM. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask you to plan accordingly.

The following services will be available during the maintenance period:

  • A temporary Library Website will be available during the outage at www.lib.uconn.edu, though it will only include links to other available resources on this list
  • HOMER.  Searching the collection will work.
    Recall, Request from another UConn Campus, InterLibrary Loan, Renew books/View account will not be available during the maintenance period, nor will links to ejournals, databases, and ebooks in HOMER.
  • Magic
  • A temporary Music & Dramatic Arts Library Website will be available. Links to e-resources will only work from on campus.
  • Class Guides. Links to e-resources will not work.

The following services will not be available during the maintenance period:

  • The full Library website and other library and library-hosted websites (such as doddcenter.uconn.edu, algae.lib.uconn.edu, help.lib.uconn.edu, rdl.lib.uconn.edu, etc.)
  • Any library service that requires NetID (e.g., InterLibrary Loan, library accounts, Virtual Catalog (BLC), HuskyCT, EZProxy, etc.).
  • Access to electronic resources (ejournals, databases, and ebooks)
  • Music Digital Audio Reserves
  • Electronic Reserves  in HuskyCT and the Reserve System
  • Connecticut History Online
  • Other services not listed here may also be unavailable. If you are unable to access something the morning of May 16, please try again after 11:00AM.

World Digital Library launched

The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world.

The principal objectives of the WDL are to:

* Promote international and intercultural understanding;
* Expand the volume and variety of cultural content on the Internet;
* Provide resources for educators, scholars, and general audiences;
* Build capacity in partner institutions to narrow the digital divide within and between countries.

You can search by Place, Time, Topic, Institution and Item type.
