The UConn Stamford Writing Center offers WRITING WORKSHOPS
in the Library’s ground floor conference room or eClassroom depending on participation.

  • Plagiarism & Academic Integrity: September 8th & 10th
  • Brainstorming & Thesis Statement Development: September 22nd & 24th
  • Organization & the Craft of Revision: October 6th & 8th
  • Grammar & Sentence Mechanics: October 20th & 22nd
  • Using and Quoting Sources: MLA: November 3rd & 5th
  • Using & Quoting Sources: APA:November 17th & 19th
  • Written Test Taking Strategies: December 1st & 3rd

 WORKSHOPS ARE HELD:   MONDAYS 2-3 PM AND WEDNESDAYS 4-5 PM

Writing Center November Workshops: MLA Citation & Documentation Workshop

Location: In the 1st floor Conference Room of the Jeremy Richards
Library

Dates:
Monday, November 3rd: 2-3 pm
Wednesday, November 5th: 4-5 pm

We will go over the basics of citing and formatting papers using MLA.
Feel free to bring in current work on which to practice!

Academic Integrity Awareness Week

The First Academic Integrity Awarness Week at the University of Connecticut, Stamford is organized by the Freshman English Program and the Writing Center and also supported by the following departments at UCONN Stamford: Associate Vice Provost’s Office, Department of English, Jeremy Richard Library, Student Services and Student Activities Office.

We will hold the following events to raise awareness of issues related to academic integrity on campus; we look forward to having students participation in this week, as well as instructors’ participation and encouragement of their students to attend our events.

Monday, September 8

2:30-3:00 pm: “Plagiarism & Academic Integrity,” a workshop for students

Tuesday, September 9

12:30-1:30pm: Panel on Academic Integrity

5:30-7:30pm Film Screening “Shattered Glass” (based on a true story of professional misconduct by journalist Steven Glass)

Book Display: Throughout the week, Jeremy Richard Library will hold a book display on the topic of academic integrity at the entrence of the library.

New Homer Upgrade

The Libraries’ Catalog HOMER has a new look that is more colorful and easier to navigate.  We’ve eliminated library lingo, added links to book covers and descriptions, and also included a feature that  provides you with a warning before you are timed out.  Your favorite features were left intact, allowing you various search strategies, direct links to Intercampus Express/Interlibrary Loans and Course Reserves, ability to renew books online, and more.

Take a look at our new upgraded page and send along any comments or suggestions, since we’re always looking for ways to make the catalog friendlier.
